Gibbco was founded in 1964 by the late Ed Gibbons. The Gibbons family operated the company until it was acquired by Trans Ash, Inc. in 1999.
Gibbco opened its first production plant in 1975, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. In 2002 Gibbco began processing material at the Trimble County, Kentucky plant, and in 2003 opened a third facility in Madison, Indiana.
